Our Mission

RussiaMediaMonitor.com is a web-site set up by Russia Media Watch. The latter is an independent press freedom watchorganization with offices in New York and Moscow comprised by media professionals in Russia and the United States dedicated to improving media community by creating an environment of honesty, integrity and unity. We promise to work tirelessly to improve conditions in our community and affect positive change in the world around us. We affirm the importance of working together to find solutions. We will operate lawfully and respectfully in all matters. We will not profit from our endeavors. We believe in fairness for all.

Utilizing its website, which will provide media professionals both in Russia and the US relevant information on media freedoms in Russia, the watchdog will contribute to creation of an independent, informed and well-balanced view on the subject often distorted in the West due to political influence and existing stereotypes. We hope that networking with similar groups in the US and Europe will provide us with viable media freedom-enabling solutions and mechanisms that could be applied effectively in Russia and the rest of the former USSR.
